What were the most important things you learned from your participation in BLOOM RA?

*I learned to grow up not to grow down.
*I enjoyed the fellowship at the program. I learned how to express myself and to network.
*I learned that where people come from and their background is irrelevant. I learned that learning from the diversity that is around you is important.
*I learned about how to overcome challenges. I learned not to be scared to express yourself.  Find what you want to do then put in dedication and don’t give up.  Always understand other’s problems and listen to their stories—it will help you to understand and improve yourself.  Always strive to achieve and never give up on your dream.
*Learning from each other is the most valuable thing in the Academy.
*I learned how not to judge a book by its cover and to have a better outlook on life.  Before I came here I was full of rage and anger.  I was blind to what people were trying to tell me.  I was Tupac’s “Rose that grew from concrete” and I have learned that no mater who you are and what your struggle is only you have the abilities and power to change it.
*I learned how to fund college without taking out student loans.
*I learned how college can get you somewhere in life.
*I learned a lot on the College Tours of the 3 campuses. I also leaned about college majors and careers.
*I learned how to network.
*I learned not to think that you can’t but you can. Go after what you live for and enjoy doing.  Take the chance now to start being the person that you want to be 10 years from now.
*I learned a lot about communication skills.
*I learned how to thrive as a college student from my participation in the BLOOM Academy.
*I learned that everyone around me at the Academy was a resource and they won’t let you fall or give up on yourself.
*I learned how to be positive and to work hard in life.
*I learned not to let your struggle ruin your life.
*As young African Americans we have to stay together so we can be stronger as one unit.
